ERA Yearbook 2011
Author: Entertainment Retailers Association
Compiled and published by the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA), the Yearbook profiles the core markets of games, video and music.
It contains in-depth qualitative analysis of how each of the three segments performed during 2010, as well as a detailed statistical breakdown encompassing volume & value.
In summary, ERA says entertainment retailing 2011 can be categorised as either glass half-full or glass half-empty, depending on your perspective.
In terms of half-empty, the video, games and music markets all suffered declines in 2010, the growth of digital is relatively slow and reducing margins and piracy threaten the rich diversity of UK entertainment retailing.
In terms of half-full, entertainment is more popular than ever, Blu-ray, PS3, Xbox 360 and music downloads are showing real growth and the internet is enabling new business models and new entrepreneurs to reinvigorate the retail landscape.
