Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle

They may not be booming in popularity like they did in their ‘90s heyday, but point-and-click games are very much alive and kicking today.

Introducing Captain Morgane and the Golden Turtle, a multiformat adventure which follows the story of Morgane Castillo and her quest to become the Caribbean’s first female pirate captain.

Captain Morgane boasts compatibility with the PlayStation Move and Wii Remote controllers, full 1080p imagery on PS3 and PC, 50 locations, five islands, six mini-games, 40 characters and over 12 hours of gameplay. It’s also written by award-winning Broken Sword writer Steve Ince.

Of course it’s not the first point-and-click pirate game, with the Monkey Island series still popular today, but Captain Morgane sets itself apart with ‘Disney-style’ looks and storyline.

“Point and click adventures remain an evergreen genre and recently there have been few stand-out titles of the type on console,” Reef Entertainment general manager Will Curley tells MCV. “High-seas pirating is also very aspirational now because of the likes of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean – so we can expect the game to have appeal to wider audiences.”

Treasure island

Players take on the role of Morgane who must hunt for the legendary Golden Turtle treasure. Along the way she’ll have to recruit a crew, solve puzzles, outwit pirates and track clues to find it.

Reef is running competitions to promote the game with publications including Bliss, Star Girl Magazine, Shout Magazine, PSM3, Nintendo Gamer and Pocket Gamer.

Captain Morgane has the credentials to resonate well with casual players, female consumers and point-and-click gamers.
