F1 2012

Since Codemasters took over the F1 franchise, it has gone from strength to strength building a loyal fan base with a need for speed.

In F1 2012 fans of the popular franchise can once again look forward to experiencing all of the official teams, drivers and circuits from the 2012 Fia Formula One World Championship, alongside some new additions.

F1 2012 sees the return of the famous Hockenheim circuit and the introduction of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, a track so new that players can race it in the game before its real-life completion in November.

Racers looking to embark on a life on the podium can embrace the extended career mode in the game or, for those short of time, try out the Season Challenge, a mode that condenses the career experience into just ten races.

Players now have the chance to go wheel-to-wheel with the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel in the game’s Champions Mode. This scenario-based feature puts drivers against six World Champions in turn in a bid to stake their claim as the greatest force in Formula One.

Those new to the track can get up to speed with the new Young Drivers Test at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina track. Based on a real event for young drivers, this tutorial will help players master the mechanics of their vehicles.

Alongside this driving tutorial are a series of new lap walkthroughs. This feature will see F1 test driver and Codemasters technical consultant Anthony Davidson give advice on the important parts of every track in the game, helping drivers to master any course.

LIVIN’ IN THE FAST LANE
“F1 2012 really is another huge step forward for the franchise,” says F1 brand director Hayley Holland.

“For the first time in F1 gaming, we’ve been able to get a pre-release demo into gamers hands and we’ll also have a substantial sampling presence at the Eurogamer Expo.”

With its new additions helping to carve another realistic F1 racing experience, Codemasters will hope F1 2012 secures a pole position in the race at retail.

TV
TV support will cross a broad range of channels, reaching out to a 16 to 34 demographic. Advertisements will feature across major Sky Sports channels alongside channels including Channel 4, ITV, Sky Atlantic and Dave.

DEMO
In a first for the F1 gaming franchise, a demo has been released for fans to get their hands on the game early. The demo will showcase the two new features in the game, the tutorial Young Driver Test and career based Season Challenge.

STAR POWER
During the launch weekend and as part of the Singapore coverage, BBC1’s F1 show will see Bruno Senna, Lewis Hamilton and Keikki Kovalainen play a race, taking to the Circuit of the Americas for the very first time.

ONLINE & PRINT
Heavy online activity will cover gaming, sports and motorsport sites such as Top Gear and Autosport. The game also received positive coverage from IGN, GamesRadar and an 88 per cent first review from GamesMaster.
