Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge

We take a look at this brand new Rugby game which features the official licence for the New Zealand All Blacks.

With only three weeks to go before the 2011 Rugby World Cup kicks off in New Zealand, fans can get some early practice in with Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge, the rugby game that features the New Zealand All Blacks and their world famous Ka Mate haka war dance.

The game boasts Single Match, Tutorial and Competition modes, as well as a Franchise mode that gives players the chance to experience a career in rugby that spans 13 seasons and involves both club and world tournaments. All of which is fronted by Rugby legend Jonah Lomu.

“Jonah Lomu isn’t just a licence, it’s the ability to really connect with the audience with an iconic figure in rugby history,” says Alternative Software MD Roger Hulley.

“The game features motion capture of Jonah, along with the All Blacks, and pushes home the authenticity of the gameplay. Coupled with 93 plus teams from around the world, there’s no other rugby game with more features, licenses and content.”

High-Def Haka

Fans of the sport can look forward to playing in 31 stadiums including the 14 in New Zealand that will host this year's World Cup. That’s on top of licensed teams from the Aviva Premiership, The RaboDirect PRO12, the TOP 14 Orange and Super Rugby.

Online multiplayer will support  four against four games as well as ranked matches and leaderboards.

With celebrated commentators Justin Marshall and Grant Nisbett and the thigh-slapping delights of the All Blacks, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge looks set to be a must have title for rugby enthusiasts.

Legend of Lomu

Jonah Lomu is considered to be a true legend of Rugby Union, being included in the International Rugby Hall of Fame in 2007 – the year of his retirement. He is currently the Rugby World Cup’s all time top try scorer with 15 tries in 11 matches. He played for the New Zealand All Blacks.

Marketing attack

Alternative Software is advertising the game in print and online through rugby and more general sports press as well as the national and international media. The game will also be promoted through radio ads and consumer events targeted at the rugby gaming audience.
