Since it first entered the battlefield back in 1999, the Medal of Honor franchise has established itself as one of the leading shooters around, a legacy that continued with the recent reboot set in modern times.
Following on directly from the reboot is the fourteenth entry in the series, Medal of Honor: Warfighter, a title whose authenticity comes directly from consultation with Tier 1 Operators from across the globe.
Warfighter drops players into the boots of a ‘Preacher’, a Tier 1 Operator. They are a deadly class of solider and expert applicators of violence who are summoned for missions where failure is not an option.
Whilst trying to piece together a family broken by his time away, a deadly explosion is set off and soon the protagonist finds himself using his unique skills to track down enemies in real-life global combat zones and to quash a global threat.
Real World Tour
Using the same Frostbite 2 engine used in Battlefield 3, this latest in the franchise delivers rich visuals, expert sound design and detailed micro destruction that allows gamers to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Alongside the single player campaign, gamers can join forces in a multiplayer mode that allows users to play as a Tier 1 Operator from one of 10 different countries from across the world, including the UK’s SAS and the SEALs from the US. There is also an online option that allows soldiers to take to the battlefield in a head-to-head competition.
With the Frostbite engine ensuring the game looks as good as anything seen in the franchise before, Warfighter is set to please series veterans and newbies with its authentic gameplay experience.
Those consumers that choose to pre-order Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition can look forward to gaining access to the Battlefield 4 Beta which comes online in late 2013.
Along with the beta, the Limited Edition includes the US Navy SEAL Tier 1 Sniper Pack and, if pre-ordered from Amazon, a Trijicon Optics Three-Pack for HK416 to help with both long range and close quarter shooting.
The Score of War
Linkin Park’s very own Mike Shinoda is behind the score of the game and the video for the band’s new song ‘Castle of Glass’ features visuals taken from in-game footage from Warfighter.
