AFTER returning on the PC on Halloween, the Painkiller series is now raising hell on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 for the first time in its history.
Powered by the Unreal Engine 3, Painkiller: Hell & Damnation sees two previous titles, Painkiller and Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell, get a glossy HD remake brimming with all manner of demon nastiness.
“For the first time ever, PlayStation fans will be able to get a dose of some true ‘players’ FPS action by nailing their friends to a wall with a Stakegun, as you do,” says Nordic Games’ sales and marketing director Nik Blower.
“In addition, we expect it to retail on both Xbox 360 and PS3 for around £25, which is phenomenal value for a hugely satisfying FPS old-school romp.”
Jimmy Saville aside, players will come up against more than 30 of Hell’s nastiest residents.
PAIN IN PURGATORY
Players can once again step into the Purgatory-bound shoes of Daniel Garner as he slaughters his way through 14 levels.
For those who find the creatures too much to handle on their own, a new co-op mode is available.
At the other end of the scale, a survival mode is included for players who love nothing more than wave upon wave of demonic creatures.
Gamers can also utilise a new device in battle thanks to the Soulcatcher, a weapon that, much like Keith Lemon: The Movie, literally sucks the soul out of whoever comes into contact with it.
“Fans of the original Painkiller can expect lush graphics, an 18 rated experience, all the might and prowess of UE3 engine, familiar and favorite maps and weapons, a great community and re-connecting with some old Painkiller fan friends,”
“Oh, and it’s a sharp reminder of why and how FPS became the biggest gaming genre.” concluded Blower.
