Rage 2 dominates barren week at UK retail

The release of Rage 2 has finally shuffled the Top Ten of the UK weekly charts a tiny bit, with Bethesda’s shooter debuting at No.1. 57 per cent of the physical copies went to PS4, against 38 per cent to Xbox One and five per cent to PC.

Despite taking the top of the charts, Rage 2 didn’t sell massively, with Week One sales down 74.8 per cent compared to launch sales for the original Rage back in 2011. The market has changed drastically since then though, and a lot of that could be down to the digital shift.

Meanwhile, Asobo Studios and Focus’ A Plague Tale: Innocence, which gathered a lot of good press these past few weeks, debuted at No.9.

Further down the charts, Rebellion and Sold Out’s Sniper Elite V2 Remastered entered the charts at No.13.

Despite the release of a few new titles, the market remained a bit underwhelming, especially compared to last year: unit sales were down 16.9 per cent while revenue decreased 11.9 per cent year-on-year. It’s worth mentioning that the same week last year wasn’t even particularly a good one, with the only new entry in the charts back then being Switch exclusive title Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition.

Week-on-week, the results remained flat, with a two per cent dip in units sales and a four per cent increase in value.
