Red Faction: Armageddon

Red Faction: Armageddon follows 2009’s Red Faction: Guerrilla and boasts a new storyline, a host of inventive weapons as well as a new co-op experience.

Set 40 years after the events of the previous title, the Red Planet is under serious threat from a mysterious force. The Terraformer that supplies Mars with a breathable atmosphere has been destroyed, leaving the planet ravaged by tornadoes and lethal lightning storms, a situation that forces the inhabitants to flee beneath the surface and turn to living in a series of caves.

Players step into the shoes of Darius Mason, who is tricked into opening an underground shaft that releases an evil force from an old temple. This new threat begins to tear colonist settlements apart, leaving it up to Darius to join the Red Faction and face a new evil as well as mobs who are angry at his error.

Everything must go

Red Faction: Armageddon stays true to its roots in that almost everything seen in the game can be blown to tiny pieces with a range of explosive weaponry.

Alongside rocket launchers, canons and assault rifles is the new Magnet Gun, a weapon that allows gamers to shoot at two different object and watch them smash into each other.

If ever a vital piece of scenery, like a bridge or staircase is blown away in all the excitement, gamers can use the NanoForge to rebuild areas back to their original state.

Alongside the main game is a Ruin Mode, which challenges players to cause as much damage as they can in a minute. There’s also Infestation Mode, a new co-op game which forces gamers to work together to survive wave upon wave of aliens.

All of this makes Red Faction Armageddon the most extensive game in the series to date.

Red Faction: Origins

Red Faction: Origins is a direct-to-TV movie which will premiere on the SyFy channel. Set between the last game and the new one  the film will star X-Files and Terminator actor Robert Patrick as Alec Mason and Stargate Universe’s Brian J. Smith as Jake Mason.
