With the London Olympics approaching, players can warm up to the games early with Summer Challenge: Athletic Tournament, a title that provides a range of athletic activities.
Released to coincide with the World Athletics Championships in Daegu, South Korea, players can don the lycra and begin the button-bashing in running events including the 100m sprint, hurdles, 400m and 1,500m. There’s also the high jump, pole vault, 100m freestyle swim, archery, fencing and gymnastics.
Gamers can test their throwing prowess in the javelin, discus, hammer and shotput challenges too.
Let the games begin
Alongside the single-player career mode, gamers can also go up against friends via split-screen multiplayer or online. There, they can fight it out to be the next Usain Bolt of the button-bashing world on the Online Global Leaderboard.
“When marketing the game, we wanted to do something which promoted the health, sport and athletic angle of the title and have been working closely with various sporting magazines as well as a well-known UK health club to target the wider customer base,” says Abid Gangat, PQube’s key account and trade marketing manager.
With its range of events and realistic stadiums, Summer Challenge: Athletic Tournament looks destined to give sport fanatics their fix of button crunching action ahead of the Olympics in London next year.
