Tekken Tag Tournament 2

It has been a whole 13 years since Tekken Tag Tournament hit arcades in 1999 but it returns to consoles this year with a whole host of brand new features to experience.

First and foremost is an all-new practice mode called Fight Lab, which allows fighters in training to hone their skills. It also assists experienced Tekken players with a variety of missions for players to complete.

Secondly, unlike the original Tekken Tag Tournament, the sequel actually features a brand new storyline for gamers to follow and apart from being non-canon, it’s guaranteed to be totally outrageous and full of fan service.

TAG! YOU’RE OUT
As is tradition with Tekken titles of late, there’s a huge cast of fighters to choose from. In fact, there are 50 characters in total, some of which are console exclusive and offered in pre-order DLC packs. This means there’s a huge variety of combination teams and moves for players to experience.

There are also all-new secret combos to be discovered for eight specific teams. Theses special combos are counted as a tag combo and reduce the amount of recoverable health for the victim. It still includes all the general modes you would expect such as Team Battle, VS Battle, Ghost Battle, Time Attack, Survival and Arcade. The game also allows four gamers to play all at once in the tag mode.

ONLINE SERVICES
Namco Bandai announced an all new online service that they will launch alongside the release of Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

World Tekken Federation will provide players with the ultimate in fighting community services that tracks their personal statistics against players across the globe.

The service will also allow gamers to create and manage their own teams with friends, compete in online events and discuss the game with other hardcore fans.

Backed by a big marketing push featuring art competitions and a Snoop Dogg song called ‘Knocc ‘em down’, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 should be a big hit.

INSTAGRAM GALLERY

Namco is running an Instagram competition and a collection of the best snaps will be on display at the Protein Gallery on September 13th. There will be prizes for the best image.

WE ARE TEKKEN

The game will also release in a special We Are Tekken edition that includes a steel book case, gargantuan 200-page art book, behind the scenes DVD, CD soundtrack and a remix album.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

To lead up to the European final in Paris, Namco Bandai are on the hunt for the best players in the UK. Tournaments will take place at Eurogamer Expo and MCM Expo.

ARTISTIC MERITS

The publisher has commissioned several works of art as part of its marketing push for the game. Popular artists such as Vince Ray, Ben Wilsher and Neal Adams have all contributed.
