Server-Side Network Programmer - Remote

This BAFTA winning studio are preparing to embark on their most ambitious and exciting project yet. The smash hit successes of their 2D title has already lauded it as the next big thing by critics after a standout E3 showing this year. This is your chance to join their incredibly talented team to create something amazing!

Your role within the team would be to develop RESTful services that the game client would use to communicate with other players. In addition, you'll create Devops and Community Management features for continued support of the game, profile and tune the services, continue development on the matchmaking system, and fit in with the design team to implement new features.

The studio runs development remotely, and as such are willing to take applications from around the world. You'll be supplied with appropriate equipment, dev kits and software licenses and be able to work snugily from the comfort of your own home! The team likes to get together every now and again to catch up and see how everyone's doing in person, so occasional travel to London is required on an Ad Hoc basis for team meetings / work days.

  • Java Experience & Linux Experience
  • Experience working with Platform Service Providers (eg Amazon EC2 / Google Compute etc)
  • Cross Server Communications
  • Database (NoSQL/SQL/CouchDB)
  • High Volume, Low Latency Client/Server Communications over HTTP and UDP

  • Familiar with client/server topology and the problems that come with it
  • Ability to work remotely on complex problems
  • Ability to deep dive into large complex codebases and come up with reliable solutions to problems
  • An understanding of multithreading and the problems that come with it.
  • Experience with Security and Anti-Cheat Measures

Why you should apply:

This is your chance to join this relaxed team of developers from your own office. If you're looking for a remote role with a high-achieving, yet small studio, then this is the role for you!
