After a tumultuous year of takeovers and brand revivals, UK publisher SCi has posted a glowing set of full-year financials.
Revenues were up to a huge £179.1 million, compared with a modest £18m in 2005, while trading profit is reported to stand at £27.4m – up from a loss of £5.8m the previous financial year.
Total sales for FY 2006 reached 11.9 million, with 2.9m units of Tomb Raider Legend and 1.4m sales of Hitman: Blood Money among the highlights. 5.1m units were shifted across the rest of the firm’s portfolio, while the distribution of LEGO Star Wars netted SCi another 2.5m sales in financial year 2006.
The UK publisher also re-affirmed its commitments going forward, with 19 releases in FY 2007, new franchises such as Xbox 360 hit Just Cause and the forthcoming Kane and Lynch, and further use of the Tomb Raider franchise with an Anniversary edition and the release of Legend on Nintendo formats.
“SCi’s results for the 2006 financial year demonstrate the success of the Eidos acquisition,” said chief executive Jane Cavanagh. “In twelve months, through strong management action we have made it profitable, reversing its previous losses.
“We have successfully relaunched key brands and built a comprehensive and high-quality product portfolio to underpin future profitable growth,” she added. “SCi is financially robust and ideally positioned to take advantage of the growth in next generation consoles and the growing demand for mobile and on-line content.”
