EA snaps up Battlefield developer

Publishing giant EA has acquired Digital Illusions after the Stockholm-based developer’s sterling work on Battlefield 2142, set for release on October 20th.

Digital Illusions will now become a fully-integrated EA studio, and will be charged with the task of building upon the Battlefield franchise as well as working on new PC and next-generation titles.

“EA is thrilled to officially welcome this team of incredibly talented people and a globally recognized game franchise,” said President of EA's worldwide studios Paul Lee. “The DICE studio has strong opportunity for growth as we build the Battlefield franchise and other new products. We're confident that our creative approach and business leadership principles are well matched to share future success.”
