The site features 12 games in its PC 'top ten', claiming that the selection proved too difficult to cut down. Chosen PC releases include THQ’s S.T.A.L.K.E.R, EA’s Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Midway’s Unreal Tournament 2007, which is described as having ‘beautiful, hot action spitting out of every polygon’.

Big winners from the console platforms include Nintendo, whose first party titles dominate the website’s DS and Wii top ten round-ups.

Nintendo Wii games selected include Wario Ware Smooth Moves, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Super Mario Galaxy, which CVG calls ‘the single most exciting game coming to Wii in 2007’. Third party Wii titles chosen include Atari’s Metal Gear Slug Anthology and Capcom’s Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles.

The DS list features Nintendo’s Star Fox Command, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Elite Beat Agents and Diddy Kong Racing DS, but the platform holder is run close by Square Enix. The Japanese firm enjoys four entries with Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Children Of Mana and the DS-exclusive RPG Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime.

The Xbox 360 list features Microsoft’s Mass Effect, Blue Dragon and Halo 3, which CVG calls ‘a mind-numbingly obvious entry’. Third-party titles deemed worthy of a place include Capcom’s Lost Planet, Ubisoft’s Assassins Creed, Midway’s Stranglehold and Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV.

The PS3 collection includes Sony’s Motorstorm, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Killzone, as well as EA’s Army Of Two and Burnout 5. Assassins Creed and GTA IV are also given a place.
