Prices plunge in GAME software sell-off

GAME has upped the ante in the post-Christmas sales by slashing prices on recently released PS2 and Xbox 360 titles – and selling PC games at an ultra cheap £1.99.

PS2 versions of both EA’s FIFA 07 and The Sims 2: Pets as well as Ubisoft’s Rayman Raving Rabbids are available for just under £17 from the retailer’s website. Another title released in the latter months of last year, Sega’s Yakuza, is sold for £9.98 on the same format.

The cheapest offers in the firm’s ‘Bargain Bucket’ promotion are LucasArts’ Armed & Dangerous, Project Three’s New World Order Hip Interactive’s Stolen and CT: Special forces: Fire For Effect. All four PC games are being sold for just £1.99.

The cheapest 360 title available is 2K Games’ Amped 3 at £14.99, closely followed by THQ’s The Outfit and Sega’s Full Auto £19.98. Other 360 bargains include EA’s Fight Night Round 3 and Microsoft’s Perfect Dark Zero for £24.98, and Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy: Splinter Cell Double Agent for £25.98. EA’s FIFA 07 and Need For Speed Carbon are available for just £26.98 on the format.

The reductions represent the latest in a slew of New Year price-cutting by UK games retail.

Christmas number one FIFA ’07 is going for under £20 at Amazon, £14.99 at Play.com on PS2 and less than £25 at Gamestation, HMV, Woolworths and Tesco.
