Confident THQ targets USD 1bn sales

The continued success of titles including Cars and WWE Smackdown has meant that US publisher THQ has upped its forecast for financial year 2007, and has targeted a whopping $1 billion net sales.

Next-gen.biz reports that THQ has raised expectations from a maximum of $975 sales, and expects third quarter net sales of approximately $475 million, up from previous target of $425 million net sales.

The company has also revealed that it has moves an as-yet unannounced PS3 title back to later in the year.

“THQ’s platform strategy served us very well this holiday with stronger than expected sales of mass-market franchises WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, Disney/Pixar Cars and Avatar: The Last Airbender across key current and next-generation hardware systems,” said president and CEO of THQ Brian Farrell.

"This performance combined with our successful original property launches exclusively for next-generation systems have positioned THQ to achieve the significant milestone of $1 billion in sales for fiscal 2007.”
