Vivendi buys Xbox Live studio

Wanako Games, the developer of recent Xbox Live Arcade hit Assault Heroes, has been acquired by leading publisher Vivendi Games.

Vivendi has said that its subsidiary, Sierra Online, will in future use Wanako’s technology as part of the publisher’s expanding downloadable content plans.

“The studio has an extensive offering of valuable tools and technologies that can be leveraged across all of Sierra Online’s development studios,” Sierra Online president Ed Zobrist stated. “The combination of Wanako’s development experience, creativity and technical capabilities will contribute greatly to our presence as a leading publisher of console download online games.”

Wanako, which is based in Chile, is reportedly the largest developer in Latin America. It is currently working on a further Xbox Live Arcade title, 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures, along with a number of unannounced projects.
