Activision grabs Unreal engine licence

Publisher Activision has licensed Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 for a new upcoming title.

The US firm intends to use Epic’s leading game engine for an as-yet-unannounced action title. Other titles that already use the software include the likes of Epic’s own Gears of War, Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell and Ion Storm’s Deus Ex.

Activision’s head of production Laird Malamed stated: “The Unreal Engine is one of the most technically advanced engines on the market and is a perfect fit for our upcoming action game.

“The engine’s robust suite of programming tools will enable our development team to deliver what is sure to be an amazing game experience.”
