Unreal deal for Capcom

Capcom is next in line to licence Epic’s Unreal Engine

Hot on the heels of the news that Activision has snapped up the rights to use Epic’s Unreal Engine in an upcoming action title, Japanese publisher Capcom has also confirmed that it is to use the technology in yet another unannounced project.

“Unreal Engine 3 is one of the most powerful and versatile next generation development tools,” Capcom’s North American head of software publishing Mark Beaumont stated. “Unreal Engine 3 will empower the development team to create the quality experience that gamers expect from a Capcom product.”

Capcom joins Square Enix in the list of Eastern publishers now using Epic’s games engine. Other firms in the club include EA, Sony Online Entertainment, THQ, Atari and NCsoft.
