NaturalMotion brings Euphoria to Rockstar

GTA publisher to use NaturalMotion’s new graphics tool in future titles.

Rockstar has inked a deal with NaturalMotion to use its animation technology Euphoria.

Euphoria has been implemented by LucasArts in its next-gen Indiana Jones title. The publisher has shown off real-time demos of a virtual Euphoria-enhanced Indy stumbling and adjusting his balance on a rope bridge.

According to Next Generation, NaturalMotion claims that instead of relying on pre-determined scripted animations, game characters built around Euphoria will sport actions that simulate the human body’s motor nervous system.

“Euphoria is about giving people an interactive experience they have never seen before,” said NaturalMotion CEO Torsten Reil. “We now have the processing power to simulate humans, and the possibilities for games are endless.”

Rockstar said that it would reveal the specific titles that will utilise Euphoria at a later date.
