Classic ‘90s sports game makes a surprise PC revival courtesy of Frogster.
The Bitmap Brothers' classic Amiga sports brawler Speedball 2 is set to return in a remake, due out on PC this summer.
CVG reports that the popular series is being revived by Frogster Interactive, which states that the remake "transforms the futuristic game setting with the help of state-of-the-art technology into a high-speed online sports spectacle".
Speedball 2 is a futuristic sports game with brutal melee combat, and was a huge success upon its release in the 1991.
A Frogster statement claims that: “The new Speedball 2 offers international leagues, a large-scale ranking system and a virtual marketplace. With fully customisable characters from Cyborg to Amazon, dynamic sports battles, and continuous community support, it will convince sports simulation enthusiasts, action fans, and e-sports cracks likewise.”
