LEGO MMO on the way

NetDevil, maker of Auto Assault, to develop kids' title for Danish toy firm.

Denmark’s largest toy manufacturer, LEGO, has brought US online games developer NetDevil on board to work on a new MMO based on its globally successful toy brick brand.

“As children around the world continue to spend more time online we are developing new and engaging ways for them to interact with our brand,” said LEGO’s Lisbeth Valther Pallesen. “The LEGO brand represents construction, creativity and problem solving – values that complement the MMO market.”

The LEGO brand has a rich heritage in the games market, with its biggest sellers to date being Traveller’s Tales chart topping LEGO Star Wars series, which has enjoyed success both in Europe and the US.

NetDevil was the studio behind NCsoft’s innovative MMO racer Auto Assault, and whilst that title was not a huge success at retail, it was commended for trying to bring something different to the online market.
