Activision teams up with Macrovision

US publisher enters into new digital distribution market.

Publisher Activision is to make a further move into the digital downloads market by releasing several key PC titles via Macrovision's online distribution network. The deal increases Activision’s games on demand presence, following its agreement last year to release titles via Valve’s online service, Steam.

Six games will initially be available through Macrovision: Call of Duty, Call of Duty: United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, Gun, Vampire: the Masquerade and The Movies.

"It has become clear that gamers are embracing the digital distribution of games," Activision's online publishing boss Jon Estanislao stated. "Activision is committed to delivering its content across multiple distribution channels and Macrovision has the ability to protect, and increase the reach of our games to our fans."
