GDC: Pokemon brings online multiplayer to Wii

Pokemon Battle Revolution to pioneer Wii online and DS connectivity this summer.

Nintendo has put to bed the recent rumours that online Wii multiplayer was on hold until 2008 by confirming that the upcoming Pokemon Battle Revolution will boast competitive gaming over its wi-fi network.

Scheduled for release in the US on June 25th, the game will also be the first to allow gamers to connect their DS to their Wii – in this instance the functionality will provide the opportunity to upload characters from the upcoming DS titles Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

In addition, the US release dates of several anticipated Wii titles were confirmed over the next few months, with Super Paper Mario (April 9th), Mario Party 8 (May 29th) and Big Brain Academy (June 11th) all due to arrive before the summer.

The European release dates for these titles are yet to be announced.
