Oblivion content pushes Live price barrier

Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls IV expansion will cost 2400 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live.

TeamXbox reports that Bethesda has confirmed that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion expansion pack Shivering Isles will be available on Xbox Live on March 26th for a record price of 2400 Microsoft Points.

This breaks the 1200 Point barrier previously set by the likes of Bankshot Billiards and Lumines Live. However, the sheer scale of Bethesda’s expansion means that it is incomparable to any downloads currently available on Live, offering more than 30 hours of new gameplay.

Shivering Isles is the first example of a boxed retail product and identical download hitting High Streets and Xbox Live simultaneously. Both retail at approximately the same price (around £20). The move takes Xbox Live a step closer to full price triple-A downloads.
