Sony cracks chart Resistance

Resistance: Fall of Man claims number one as seven PS3 titles break into top 20.

PS3’s record breaking 165,000 hardware sales over its opening weekend has seen a number of exclusive titles storm the ChartTrack All Formats Top 40, with Sony’s Resistance: Fall of Man leading the charge at number one.

Insomniac’s FPS is Sony’s first All Formats Number One since charming PS2 adventure Shadow of the Colossus just over a year ago.

Sony also claims second spot in the charts with Evolution Studios’ MotorStorm, though Codemasters steps in to prevent a Sony one-two-three with its Brian Lara International Cricket 2007.

Sega’s multi-format Virtua Tennis 3 debuts in fourth position, whilst the PS3 release of Activision’s Call of Duty 3 sees the FPS climb 15 places to number five.

Last week’s number one Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories slips to sixth spot, one place ahead of another Sony debutant, Formula 1: Championship Edition.

Elsewhere in the charts, PS3 exclusives Ridge Racer 7, Virtua Fighter 5 and Genji: Days of the Blade enter the listings in 11th, 14th and 16th respectively.

Other debutants include EA duo Def Jam: Icon and UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 in 12th and 16th respectively whilst Ubisoft’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles enters the charts in 19th.
