SCi has made a key move into the digital distribution sector by snapping up technology specialist Bluefish Media for an initial payment of €1.25 million, rising to €3 million over the next three years.

SCi recently struck a deal with online specialist Valve to supply games over its Steam digital distribution network, but this move could signify that it wishes to have more control over its games on demand offerings going forwards.

“Bluefish is an important acquisition for Eidos,” commented Eidos’ New Media and IT director Simon Protheroe. “We expect the digital distribution of products to become increasingly important, offering improved margins and a direct relationship with our customers.”
