Station to be broadcast via PS3 and Wii from today.
Virgin Radio has claimed a “media first” after making its broadcasts available via Sony’s PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii.
From today, users will be able to access an exclusive Virgin Radio Player via their internet browser.
It will allow users to listen to streaming radio, as well as buy tickets and CDs and download tracks through the Virgin Radio Ticket store.
Virgin Radio’s director of digital media James Cridland said: "It’s great for us to achieve another new media first and be the only UK radio station available on both of these massively popular games consoles.
“People are treating the consoles as part of their home entertainment media centre, and now Virgin Radio will be part of that experience. This platform has great growth potential, particularly among early-adopters and 25-44 audience popular with advertisers.”
As well as the flagship Virgin Radio station, the consoles will also offer Virgin Radio Xtreme, Virgin Radio Classic Rock and Virgin Radio Groove.
