US changes for Konami

Redwood City operations to be amalgamated into California office.

Japanese publisher Konami is to consolidate its two US offices into one central operation – a move that will see its Redwood City base effectively close.

All US operations are scheduled to relocate to its El Segundo office this July – a facility that it acquired last year through its purchase of mobile games developer Blue Label Interactive.

“In order to grasp the rapid change of entertainment trends and take timely strategic action, having all the functions under one roof is critical,” Konami CEO Kazumi Kitaue stated. “We have currently evolved a multiplatform entertainment business and we will continue to strive toward creating and providing customers with the best experience.”

All current Redwood City staff have been given the option to relocate, and once the move is complete Konami will begin the process of hiring new faces across its marketing, sales and production divisions.
