Blitz snaps up Virtual Experience firm

Developer Blitz has acquired a company specialising in virtual versions of cultural heritage sites.

The Virtual Experience Company builds virtual environments via work with archaeologists, historians and museum curators in order to allow those with impaired mobility to explore areas or locations they were previously unable to access.

Blitz will use the company to spearhead a new area of its business, with Virtual Experience's portfolio of work with museums, galleries and cultural organisations set to support and grow the company's work in the serious games category via its TruSim division.

"This partnership brings the fantastic visuals and engaging, interactive and multi-player gameplay you get with video games to sectors that are increasingly interested in connecting with a digitally-enabled generation," said Virtual Experience Company founder Mike Gogan, who will head the division within Blitz Games.

"We’ve always been at the leading edge of applying new technology in areas where it can make a difference and this initiative opens up really exciting possibilities.”
