Nintendo snaps up Xenosaga studio

Monolith Soft sold by Namco Bandai, according to Far Eastern report.

Namco Bandai has reportedly sold Monolith Soft, the developer behind respected RPG titles Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos II, to fellow publisher Nintendo, according to rumours from Japan.

CVG reports that Japanese news agency Nikkei claims Nintendo has purchased 80 per cent of the developer’s shares, with Namco Bandai retaining 16 per cent of its original 96 per cent stake.

Monolith Soft was formed by ex-Square employee Hirohide Sugiura, and is currently hard at work on Nintendo’s upcoming Wii title Disaster: Day of Crisis.
