Media colossus moves into gaming with Eidos, Vivendi and Bethesda already signed up

Skygames.com is to offer web users over 100 PC games to play online or download, with more games publishers to be included as the service expands.

Downloads range from £4.99 to £29.99 and are available through a partnership with IGN’s Direct2Drive, a fellow component of News Corporation. Casual games are available for a 30-minute free trial or for a subscription fee of £6 per month.

“The launch of Sky Games is an important move for Sky,” said Sky’s director of enhanced TV and games Adrian Pilkington. “Our research shows that a significant number of our customers are gamers and as the UK’s leading entertainment company, the move into gaming is a natural step.  We have some exciting plans to develop Sky Games as a multi-platform brand so that customers have the ultimate in flexibility in how they access and play games.”
