Valve’s downloads build up Steam

Digital distribution platform's user base hits 13 million

Valve has revealed that some 13 million gamers have now signed up to use its Steam digital downloads service.

The developer best know for its ultra-successful Half-Life franchise has also announced that more than 150 PC games can now be downloaded via the service.

“In Steam’s case, we have millions of customers who are gamers and dozens of customers who are developers and publishers," said president of Valve Gabe Newell, according to the BBC.

“In the past year, we’ve added over 100 mew titles from third parties, grown to over 13 million active accounts.”
