Australia: Wii boosts Nintendo fiscal results

Bonza sales for financial year total $138.9 million down under

The results for the year ended March 31st 2007 are up considerably on the $71.6 million raised the previous year, reports next-gen.

The upturn is reported to be largely down to the 80,000 Wii units sold since the console’s launch late last year. Net profit also jumped up from $2.1 million a year ago to $6.4 million, according to news.com.au.

Meanwhile marketing costs associated with launching the console saw a jump up by 68.2 per cent year on year to $10.6 million, while selling costs leapt 169 per cent to $9.2 million.
