Activision hits new sales high

US publishing giant boasts record net revenues for FY2007

Activision has reported sales of some $1.51 billion for the full year ending March 31st, whilst its profit has more than doubled to $85m, from $40.3m last year.

The performance of Guitar Hero II and Call of Duty 3 have been noted as contributing significantly to the company's fiscal fortunes. In addition, Activision's distribution business - the firm owns the UK's exclusive Sony distributor Centresoft, amongst other suppliers - has also been highlighted.

"Activision's fiscal year 2007 net revenues, which were the highest in the company's history, totalled $1.5 billion, marking 15 years of consecutive growth," said chairman and CEO Robert Kotick.

"We delivered strong results for the fourth quarter, driven by the success of Guitar Hero II and Call of Duty 3, as well as better than expected performance of the company's distribution business. Our balance sheet remains one of the strongest in the industry, with nearly $1 billion in cash and short-term investments and $1.4 billion in shareholders' equity."

"We expect 2008 to be our largest and most profitable year ever."
