New UK retail strategy for EA

Mega publisher signs with new distribution partner

Electronic Arts has dropped its long term deal with UK distributor Pinnacle to join rival Centresoft.

EA has boasted a distribution agreement with Pinnacle for some 12 years and was one of the original publishers to embrace the distributor’s then-revolutionary exclusive model.

The publisher refused to comment on its decision to move to Centresoft, although UK MD Keith Ramsdale offered: “As of September 1st, EA will be moving from Pinnacle to Centresoft. We would like to thank Pinnacle for their support over the last 12 years and we wish them all the best for the future.”

EA’s decision to switch partners comes just a couple of months after Midway opted to move from Pinnacle to Trilogy.

And in another blow for the veteran Kent distributor, it would appear that Ubisoft is also set to join fast-growing Trilogy. The Hertfordshire company already handles Ubisoft’s logistics, but is believed to have snapped up a secondary distribution deal, too.
Neither Ubisoft nor Trilogy would comment to MCV.
