EA to bring titles to Mac

Harry Potter, Command & Conquer and more coming to OS X

Electronic Arts is to use Canadian developer TransGaming’s Cider engine to port its titles to OS X, allowing Mac users to play the publisher’s games for the first time.

The deal was revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco yesterday, according to Tom Ivan at Next-Gen.biz.

"Traditionally Mac users had to wait to play the latest blockbuster games," said TransGaming CEO Vikas Gupta. "We're thrilled that TransGaming's Cider engine will dramatically decrease the time it will take to bring EA's hit portfolio of games to a thirsty Mac market."

The first four EA titles set to arrive on OS X are Command & Conquer 3, Need For Speed Carbon Battlefield 2142 and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. They will hit shelves this summer.

Madden NFL 08 and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 will be released on both Mac and consoles later in the year.
