GAME confirms is not looking to replace Gamestation head Michael Logue, and that no staff will be relocated until next year
GAME’s acquisition of Gamestation may have been finalised – but the leading interactive entertainment retailer has promised that there will be no immediate redundancies at the newly-expanded group.
Speaking to MCV following the departure of Gamestation MD Michael Logue last Friday, CEO Lisa Morgan revealed that the retailer will not be looking to replace the Gamestation head.
Instead the existing executive directors, including longtime commercial director Martyn Gibbs will head up the chain, reporting in to the GAME HQ in Basingstoke.
At the same time, Morgan has explained that any relocation of staff from Gamestation’s York office to Basingstoke is unlikely to take place until after Christmas.
“There will be no immediate sweeping changes following our acquisition of Gamestation,” Morgan told MCV. “Any process of this kind takes time – and our priority is a smooth transition and the well-being of all our staff.
“At this point in time, it looks likely that nothing will happen until after Christmas. However, we are maintaining an open dialogue with all staff at Gamestation’s York office in order to keep them fully up to speed with what’s going on.
“Certainly, our observations are that Gamestation has a terrific team and we want to keep as many of those within the GAME group.”
Morgan also confirmed that the Office of Fair Trading will “hopefully reach the conclusion of their enquiry into the deal” at the end of July.
