US publisher joins with online firm Direct2Drive to offer PC games library for download, with big titles already available

With games publishers seemingly queuing up offer their PC content for download online, THQ has joined the roster by signing a deal with e-commerce firm Direct2Drive.

Supreme Commander and Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, two of the publisher’s most recent and most impressive titles, are already available to purchase online, whilst many of THQ’s other big-hitting PC titles are set to join the line-up.

"We’re proud to be the first to offer THQ’s roster of hit games to gamers via digital distribution," Direct2Drive's Jamie Berger stated.

"Our customers are passionate about great games and blockbusters like Supreme Commander, the award-winning Company of Heroes, and the full Dawn of War series are exciting additions to our unparalleled library of triple-A games available for download."

The news follows Eidos’ recent partnership with Valve for distribution of its PC library via its Steam network, and its announcement that upcoming Xbox 360 title Tomb Raider: Anniversary will debut as a download only title on the service.
