Boss departs publisher after successful five-year reign, review of key European territories may follow
A new era dawns for Vivendi in various European territories after the surprise departure earlier this week of Adam Roberts.
A full review of the senior management structure is now possible, with Roberts’ executive vice president role understood to have grown over time to cover the Nordic states, Spain, Greece, Mexico and others, as well as the UK.
He had headed up the company for the past five years, taking the Vivendi parent group to its highest ever market share, particularly during the stellar year that was 2005 – when the company pushed into the top six.
During his five-year reign, Roberts has also overseen the online gaming phenomenon that is World of Warcraft - devouring a huge chunk of consumer spend and almost single-handedly changing the PC publishing landscape.
A popular boss and respected member of the ELSPA board, Roberts was not available for comment at press time but is expected to remain in the games industry.

A formal announcement is expected shortly from Vivendi regarding the company’s plans for replacement or re-organisation.
Roberts is believed to have been reporting directly to the company’s head of global retail business Pascal Brochier.
