Japanese sales figures see Nintendo console improving its already powerful position by outselling Sony's PS3 by six to one
The success of Nintendo motion-sensitive Wii console in Japan is going from strength to strength, with the machine outselling Sony’s rival PS3 by a ratio of six to one throughout June, Famitsu publisher Enterbrain has revealed
Throughout the month, Wii sold 270,974 units whilst PS3 sold 41,628 machines. Xbox 360 trailed further behind with sales of 17,616.
The performance follows an upward trend for Nintendo’s machine – in April Wii managed to outsell its nearest rival by a ratio of four to one, and in May it upped the stakes by hitting five to one.
Nintendo recently became one of the ten most valuable companies in Japan, overtaking Sony in the process.

How long will it last?
The hardware sells like mad but it is in desperate need of some great software.
Aside from the usual Nintendo sequals like Mario and metroid there is a severe lack of original titles that dont fall into the mini/party game genre.
Just like with the Gamecube the Wii could hit a brick wall if Nintendo fail to bring great games to a console
Also, the PS3 outsells the Xbox360 by six to one.. no matter how hard Microsoft try they cannot crack this market.
