EA CEO says industry needs to refocus on innovative creations
EA's CEO John Riccitiello has decried sequels, accused the industry of being boring and explained the reasoning behind the company's recent restructure in his first interview since returning to the job running Electronic Arts.
In the interview with The Wall Street Journal, Riccitiello reportedly says that he fears the industry is not innovative enough.
"We're boring people to death and making games that are harder and harder to play," he said, adding:
"For the most part, the industry has been rinse-and-repeat.
"There's been lots of product that looked like last year's product, that looked a lot like the year before."

EA? Criticising boring sequels?
Can you say hypocritical?
Re: Give me a H!
i dont think he said that to be hypoctrical, knowing full well what kind of reproductive spew his company flows into the pool he is in fact being self critical and his position he can be heard louder than little no-name gamers like us.
Re: Give me a H!
really getting fed up of these stupid, 'The industry is broken' blanket messages, this is the golden age of gaming and people like good sequels to games they enjoyed just as much as discovering a new game style they hadn't previously known.
Plus like the other comments say, pretty damn hypocritical that coming from EA of all companies..... FIFA, The Sims, Battlefield, all its other sports games.....
Re: Give me a H!
Wow, what a week - Popcap moan about people ripping off "their" game designs and EA moan about boring sequels.
What's next? Sony moaning about overpriced consoles? ;)
