Eidos exec says that UK based games development is losing its competitive position
Ian Livingstone, product acquisitions director at Eidos and chair of the Computer Games Skills Forum, has told MCV that he believes the UK development industry is struggling to maintain its position in the global market – and that governmental help is vital if the slide is to be reversed.
Speaking to MCV this week, Livingstone states: “It is good news that the Government recognizes the importance of the UK’s video games industry and is warning of the dangers of becoming complacent.
“In the last six months the UK has slipped from the third largest manufacturer to the fourth, behind Canada. From an industry standpoint, an increasingly concerning issue for us to address is that UK development community is losing its competitive position in global gaming and in the main this can be attributed to the fact that other territories are offering very attractive investment propositions.”
