E3 2007: 360 Elite for Europe this August

New console headlines E3 announcements, with VOD also confirmed for Christmas

European gamers will finally be able to get their hands on the revised Xbox 360 Elite console, which comes complete with HDMI digital output and a 120GB hard drive, on August 24th.

That was the main news from Microsoft’s E3 presentation, though there were also plenty of other morsels to get stuck into – chief amongst them the news that Microsoft’s highly successful video-on-demand service will also arrive on this side of the Atlantic in time for Christmas.

And in addition, a deal has been struck with Disney that paves the way for the company’s hi-def animated movies to appear on the service.

Elsewhere in Peter Moore’s presentation, it was confirmed that a Halo-themed 360 console will arrive alongside the game in September, that the downloadable content for Rockstar’s GTA IV will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and that Resident Evil 4 will be an Xbox 360 title – though gamers will have to wait until next year for its arrival.
