THQ opened its E3 presentation by showcasing Smackdown vs Raw 2008 for Wii, with the help of two WWE female wrestlers, who announced on stage “we’re here to play.”

The firm’s senior vice president of marketing Bob Aniello then touched upon a number of familiar licences from Nickelodeon and Pixar, such as the forthcoming Cars: Mater-National, before talking about THQ’s heavy focus on original IP.

“It’s a bit of a different THQ today,” he said. “We’ve invested heavily in the past year on our development, and we are happy to show the first fruits of our labour.”

The firm showed previews of Conan (due this September on Xbox 360 and PS3), Frontlines: Fuel of War, and Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon (for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii).

A montage of forthcoming racing games came next, as executive vice president of global publishing Kelly Flock joked: “We have 12 racing games planned, like any other publisher.”

The company then showed off de Blob (due for release on Wii and DS), Darksiders: Wrath of War (to be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year), and Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The publisher finished the presentation by saying it had “a lot more original IP in the works.”
