Ubisoft CEO kicks off casual games-focused conference
Yves Guillemot opened Ubisoft’s E3 presentation yesterday with the bold claim that the global games market will grow 40 to 50 per cent in the next four years.
He was then followed on stage by Ubisoft VP of marketing Tony Key, who said: "We've had a lot of success in the past few years building and launching brands. This year will not be any different."
Key promised the audience that Ubisoft’s upcoming ‘Games For Everyone’ titles would significantly expand the appeal of the entire industry.
Two new games from the ‘Wild Petz’ series were unveiled in the shape of Dolphinz and Tigerz. Keys promised that the publisher would release more “animal” games than ever before over the coming year.
A new ‘Imagine’ brand was then shown off for the DS. Aimed at 6 to 14-year old girls, titles coming out under the label will include Fashion Designer, Master Chef, and Figure Skater. This was followed by a look at Ubisoft’s new ‘My Coach’ series, including My Word Coach, My French Coach and My Spanish Coach.
DS rhythm game Jam Sessions was then demoed, before videos of upcoming triple-A titles such as Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 (Wii), Naruto (360), Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction (360/PC), EndWar (PS3/360) and CSI Hard Evidence (PC).
Clips related to Beowulf: The Game and Lost: The Video Game were then shown, before developer Gearbox talked the crowd through Brother In Arms: Hell’s Highway.
The presentation climaxed with Wii exclusive Nitro Bikes, along with clips of PS3-exclusive Haze and next-gen action romp Assassins Creed.
