UK retailers price Xbox 360 Elite

News comes as Euro PS3 bundle arrives on shelves, with prices already squeezed

A host of UK retailers including the likes of GAME, Play and HMV have priced Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Elite – and all agree that the machine will launch for £329.99.

Due to arrive on August 24th, the revised console offers a 100GB hard drive size increase, an additional HDMI video out port and some extra video-on-demand related functionality. If the price is correct, the machine will cost £50 more than Microsoft’s current 360 Premium console and £130 more than the Core machine.

In other hardware news, Sony’s new European PS3 bundle has arrived in the UK – offering two Sixaxis controllers and two additional games from Sony’s first-party offering.

Many retailers, such as Play and Amazon, have already cut the price of the bundle to sub-£400, and have even thrown in a free HDMI cable.

£50 more than launch?

I cant believe they are selling it for £50 more than the 360's launch price in 1995.

How is it that Sony get slated for selling a new package that gives £100 worth of freebies for the same price as before but Microsoft get away with this. Especially when they have been selling faulty goods and lying about it for the last year.

I suspect it's a question of demand. Demand for PS3's is huge which is why there are so many people complaining about the price. On the other hand it seems to me that the only people excited or interested in the Elite are existing 360 owners.

360 Launched in 1995? I think not.
PS3 not selling, hence freebies

100gb hard drive size increase is correct. Going from 20gb to 120gb is indeed a 100gb increase.

If anything, the report is poorly worded and open to misinterpretation.
