Video-on-demand, Freeview TV and price cut expected in UK pre-Christmas
MCV believes that SCEE is readying a number of significant announcements for next month's Leipzig Games Convention - with a possible European PS3 price-cut leading the way.
Whilst Sony has not confirmed its exact Leipzig plan, MCV believes that territories across Europe and other export markets could also be getting video-on-demand services and Freeview TV features this side of Christmas.
MCV’s prediction follows comments from SCEE's president and CEO David Reeves in which he claimed that Sony will let off the first of its peak season “fireworks” in Leipzig next month.
And given Reeves’ insistence that Sony recognises it has been treading water somewhat through the summer, expectations will now rise that a significant price-cut is due somewhere around September.

Re: Nooiiiice
Sony can have this war won by christmas, with an effective price drop and extras such as freeview and VOD, increasing number of titles over the coming 8 months, they can make the xbox360 cower for its future.
Re: Nooiiiice
Sony finally seem to be waking up to this current console war, instead of treating consumers like idiots try giving them good features at a competitive price. These features would make me reconsider purchasing a PS3.
Re: Nooiiiice
My first console was a PS1, I then went XBox and more recently Wii. I'd love to get back into the PS with PS3 but I have one major issue - the cost, especially given the cost of the Wii and XBox 360 at the moment!!!!
The recent PS3 bundles are great IF you like the games that are bundled (I don't) and IF you want/need the second controller (again I don't). Why can't we have a lower cost for the console only and leave us to decide which games and extras we want or need.
Sony, The PS3 in the US is the equivalent of £250.00 BUT in the UK the bundles are around £400.00 - Why do I have to pay for things I don't want and won't use???
Re: Nooiiiice
But does it have the subtitles? If not then it's no good!
