England star to appear on football game's packaging
Konami has secured the services of Michael Owen to appear on the box of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008, as well as other promotional materials.
The Newcastle and England striker joins Manchester United and Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo as part of the marketing campaign for the title.
“Securing Michael Owen is a real coup for Konami,” commented PES Team Leader at Konami Jon Murphy. “Since he burst on to the scene, he has proven himself an incredible goal-scorer, netting at every level both domestic and international. We are delighted to be working alongside such a talent.”
“PES 2008 is a fantastic game, and the only choice for pro players,” added Owen.
“It enjoys a brilliant reputation within many, many players and manages to be a true simulation of football while also being a real laugh to play. I look forward to working closely with Konami in the run up to launch, and being a key part of its development.”
Owen will go head-to-head with Brazil legend Ronaldinho, who will appear on packaging for FIFA 08 – the latest in EA’s popular football franchise, due for release later this year.
PES 2008 will be released on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, PS2 and DS this autumn.

Not a good idea
Not a good idea to have your software associated with Michael Owen. The game will probably only work a couple of times and then knackered for the rest of the season!
