Jaffe forms new studio

God of War director teams up with Incognito boss to form Eat Sleep Play

MCV sister site Develop reports that after much speculation, David Jaffe has left Sony Computer Entertainment America’s Santa Monica Studios to form Eat, Sleep, Play with Incognito founder Scott Campbell –  and has immediately secured exclusive development deal with SCEA.

The pair, who  previously worked together on the Twisted Metal series and the PlayStation Network title Calling All Cars, will now be developing multiple projects over several years for the PlayStation family of machines. Their first project is the PS2 title Twisted Metal: Heads On scheduled for release stateside this winter.

"We are extremely pleased to be working with David and Scott and supporting them in their new endeavor," said Shuhei Yoshida, senior vice president, product development, SCEA.

"Through hit after hit, they have established themselves as two of the most talented individuals this industry has ever seen, and I look forward to seeing what kind of further gaming innovation they can bring to the PlayStation brand through our new development deal."

And what of the rest of Campbell’s studio Incognito?  Sony have stated that the “core members of the team” responsible for Warhawk, the forthcoming multiplayer PSN & Blu-Ray shooter, will “remain in the SCEA Santa Monica Studios fold” to continue developing content for the game.
